CLIMATE CRISIS FIGHTERS
Hevea is committed to reducing CO₂ levels and promoting a healthier, greener world
WHAT IS CO₂ & WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
CO₂ or carbon dioxide, is a gas found in the air. It is created naturally by breathing, volcanoes, and decaying plants. However, human activities like burning fossil fuels and cutting down forests release a lot more CO₂
UN Goals
At HEVEA we have selected ( with great help from Copenhagen Business Hub – Erhvervshus Hovedstaden) 2 main Goal that we work actively with which is goal 5 (Empowerment of women) and 12 (Responsible consumption & Production)
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aim to unite governments, NGOs,
businesses, and communities in driving the sustainability agenda; peace and prosperity for people and a more healthy planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

RUBBER TREE - BIODEGRADABLE
Natural rubber is an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic and silicone. Its ability to biodegrade relatively quickly and its renewable nature make it a sustainable choice. By choosing products made from natural rubber, we can significantly reduce environmental pollution and promote a healthier planet
Natural rubber is a fantastic biodegradable material. When exposed to natural elements like bacteria, insects, light, and moisture, it breaks down in about 5 years. This is incredibly fast compared to synthetic materials like plastic and silicone.
Natural rubber comes from Hevea brasiliensis trees, which are renewable resources. The great thing about these trees is that we can harvest rubber from them without causing significant harm, allowing them to keep growing and producing latex for many years. Plus, after it decomposes, natural rubber can be reused to create new products, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.
On the other hand, plastic is a major problem for the environment. Most plastics are made from petrochemicals and can take hundreds to thousands of years to break down. During this long decomposition process, plastics often fragment into microplastics, which persist in the environment and pose significant pollution and health risks. Plastics contribute significantly to pollution, especially in oceans and landfills. Even though some plastics can be recycled, the process is often complex and inefficient. Many types of plastics are not recyclable and end up in landfills, adding to the problem.
Silicone, a synthetic polymer, is also more durable and resistant to degradation compared to natural rubber. It can take hundreds of years to break down in the environment. While silicone is less harmful than some plastics due to its chemical stability and resistance to heat and UV light, its long decomposition time still poses environmental challenges. Although silicone can be recycled, the process is not widely available and requires specialized facilities, leading to relatively low recycling rates.
WHY CHOOSE HEVEA PRODUCTS?
Hevea products cost 40-100% more to produce compared to products made from plastic or silicone, and our prices reflect that. But why do we choose to make products from this ancient wonder material?
We love that using natural rubber allows us to support the trees that are the heroes of our production. It also helps us support local farmers and less fortunate people with
labor-intensive work, as producing natural rubber is very time-consuming. For instance, making a Hevea pacifier involves more than 25 steps from tapping the trees to safety checks and preparation for shipment.
By using high-quality raw materials, ensuring an equitable economic approach at every step
of the production chain, and opting for greener transportation solutions, a premium is added
to our products. This commitment to quality and sustainability is what makes Hevea
products special
