TREE NATION:
THE HEVEA FOREST

HEVEA® was born from an urge to do better. Better for people, better for animals and better for the planet.
This is our mission, and it continues to guide us in everything we do.

We are beyond excited to have joined as partners with Tree Nation, committing to planting 4,600 Hevea trees in the Amazonia Rioterra, Brazil.

We will be offering offer a free HEVEA tree to all orders made on our website over €60 euros and for purchases made from our LOOP cup range.

Planting trees is a wonderful way to help care for our planet and you as the customer will be able to watch your own forest grow!

HEVEA TREES FOR HEVEA

It’s a match made in heaven.

Our love for trees and all things green is an intrinsic part of our being at HEVEA.
The brand itself was inspired by parenthood and Terese’s drive to create a sustainable legacy, providing natural everyday products that would not cost the earth, figuratively and literally.

The natural rubber we use is made using the sap tapped from Hevea trees, and the rubberwood we use for our products is just that – the wood from the Hevea trees is sustainably sourced.

While there are tens of thousands of other trees to be planted across this project, we wanted to plant Hevea trees especially, given how intertwined they are with our brand and being.

So, we begin with 4,600 Hevea Brasiliensis trees… Who knows how things will grow from there!

WHY THIS FOREST?

The reforestation project is located in the state of Rondônia, in the southwestern Brazilian Amazon. In the early 1990s, only 2% of the forests in Rondônia were felled; today, 28.5% of the land is destroyed, the highest rate of all the Amazonian states. The State of Rondônia is part of the "arc of deforestation", which refers to these vast Amazonian territories where the agricultural border and deforestation have increased significantly in recent decades.

As you most probably know, Brazil is a vast South American country. Its Amazon River basin includes a vast tropical forest, home to diverse wildlife, a variety of ecological systems, and extensive natural resources spanning numerous protected habitats. This unique environmental heritage makes Brazil one of most biodiverse countries, and is the subject of significant global interest and debate regarding deforestation and environmental protection.

2020 was the record year for deforestation in the Amazon, with the Rondônia state being the main target of illegal Amazon logging. Tree Nation joined forces with local organisation CES Rioterra in 2019 and are over half way to planting more than 70,000 trees in the Amazon, contributing to combatting climate change, biodiversity loss and other environmental forest services.

The goal is to fix carbon and recover areas of illegal deforestation. To plant native species of economic interest (cocoa, cupuaçu, açaí, amazon nuts, andiroba and our beloved hevea trees) is intended to increase the family income of traditional populations. Our project thus makes it possible to support local populations towards a sustainable production method and thus break the vicious circle of burn deforestation.

In addition to carbon storage, released in large quantities into the atmosphere by the cutting and burning of the Amazonian forest. The benefits of reforestation are numerous: soil restoration, nutrient cycling, conservation of tropical biodiversity and improvement of the water cycle.
